I bought a club3d hd 7870xt two weeks ago and ive been troubleshooting since. Im pretty sure my motherboard chipset is incompatible with the card. This is very rare but i know people that this has happened to. Should i buy a new motherboard (probably asus a85x ~£80) or send it back and buy a new one, such as a sapphire 7850 oc?

The system posts but there is no display on the monitor and the peripherals dont come on, so i cant safe boot.
The card works fine in my friends system so its not faulty.

I've done that and still no luck. I can only change the setting while the graphics card isn't in the system though, as i get no signal from the card or the integrated gfx when the card is installed.

If the card works in another PC, and you hooked it up the same in your PC, then the card isn't the problem. Does this card replace a working graphics card? If so, then your original diagnosis is probably correct. If not, I think that your PCI/E slot on your motherboard is faulty. RMA or replace the motherboard..
