Ok so I just bought a Sapphire HD7950 Vapor-X graphics card and I wanted to know if you guys think newer monitors make much of a difference. My monitor is an LG W2261VP-PF that I bought back in 2010, is this ok or do I need an LED monitor to get the best out of my GPU.
Any advice is welcome, and thanks in advance.

Solution
For gaming best is LED
consumes much less power better viewing angle faster response time and slimmer design compared to LCD
Having said that you monitor LG W2261VP-PF is quite good aswell with faster response 22" if your happy with it Keep it another year see what comes next in this rapidly changing IT industry.

Thanks that's great to hear. After finally upgrading my GPU and planning to upgrade my CPU+motherboard when Haswell comes out I was hoping that I wouldn't have to buy a new montor as well.:D

You seem to have some misconceptions here. The LED only applies to the backlight which usually does mean less power consumption, and you're correct that it produces a slimmer design, but the viewing angle and response time are not affected by whether the backlight is LED or CCFL. The viewing angle is only affected by the panel type (TN vs. MVA vs. IPS), and the response time is affected by the panel type plus the overdrive firmware.
