PSU won't start up when completely shut off from electrcity ,but it starts up normally after 3 hours.

Hello,
I have a Tagan i-Xeye II TG800-U26 800W :
-Which is 5 years old.
-Used with a gpu of 700 watts.
-When shut down from behind or from an blackout,the pc won't start up for approximately 3 hours.

What i did to solve it temporaly:
-Placed a plastic covering over the switch behind.
-Everytime that it shuts down in any way i turn off the swith behind pull out the power cable and go watch tv after 3 hours i come back plug in the cable turn on the PSU from behind and the computer works perfectly once again.
-I am thinking of buying an external batterry for my desktop so the psu wont shut down without me noticing and spending another 3 hours of boring tv shows.

I ask for help to solve this period of recovering/warm up/emptying of electricity/whatever you want to call it.

If it's forced shutdown making problems, not windows, then simply plug out power cord and hold PC CASE power button for 3 seconds. Then plug cord back in and start your computer. Try that.

1. Which 700W GPU do you use?
2. You stated shutting from power loss and later any kind of shut down (does this include windows normal shutdown procedure?)

-Everything that can cause a complete power outage to my psu is causing that,normal windows shutdown and crashes do not affect it.
-Can you explain better what is this PC CASE power button an where it might be located .I couldnt find it in the motherboard's manual or site.

Yeah messed those two things up hahaha.
Even if i press the button now the three to two hours have passed so it may be irelevant if i hold it or not but i will try and tell you.

It's not irevelant.

To discharche capacitors you need

1. Unplug power cord or switch off PSU on behind

2. Hold power button for couple seconds (that will clear electricity and you'll notice that PC get's power for part of second)

3. Plug everything back and turn on PC normally

---Yep it was irelevant cause i pressed the button real quick and the pc started working beacause three hours have passed since the forced shutdown from the power outage.
---Since we cant know if that would help,
can you please tell if holding it 3 seconds or more pressed would activate something special function of the motherboard?

Hmmm,i see..
The whole story with the capacitors was old news to me.
Thats why i left the pc to sit for 3 hours so all electricty would clear.
So you are telling that its 100% sure that if i do the guide in the quote it will work instantly and i wont have to wait for 3 hours.
I am asking beacause the pc works now so i wont be able to test your guide.

--I thank you Felmarschall for your help and will try to use your guide in the next power outage after that i will inform you if it worked or not.
P.S.You might have helped me solve the one and most annoying problem I had in my Desktop.

Hello again feldmarschal,
So there was an power outage for 15 minutes.
I followed your guide precisely,i even hold the button for 10 seconds not only 3 but absolutely nothing happened.
So I am here sitting and waiting for 3 hours to pass in order to poer up my pc.It crashed when i playing BF3:(

Also is there an option to unbest an answer because the problem is practically not solved.

Hi,

Thread is unsolved again. But now, i think your PSU died and it has nothing to do with left electricity.
I don't think that you'll be able to turn in it on anymore. Maybe i'm wrong, but i doubt it won't run because of electricity.

Hello,

From what it seems you are wrong.The PSU started working again after 3 hours.I even
tried your suggested method.Maybe the PC power button is wrongly connected ?
Or is a specific characteristic of this PSU or the the other components ?
Could it be like protective mechanism of the psu?
I don't even right now i have tried everything.
I tried disconnecting everything,whilst the pc wouldn't start,and then power it up after putting everything back.
Maybe the cause is a component incompatibility?
I will try searching simulatenously in google for other solutions.
Also if this helps the shortest time is 2 and a half hours for waiting,could it be that it discharges even more quickly.
Sorry for bad english.

If i understood what you said correctly ,the discharge method never worked and i did disconnect and recconect everything.So what is going to happen now?

No, discharge method worked. If it is electricity problem then it works always. I don't know what happened now, but if your PSU needs 2-3 hours cooldown then it it's still electricity problem. If it was heat problem, it would been resolved in 10-15 minutes but then you would not be able to run your PC for long time because overheat would turn PC down.

What exactly, step by step have you touched, disconnected or reconnected inside your PC?

When i bought all the parts for my pc i sat down and meticulously connected everything properly as was shown in the manual.
Then one day i just turned off the psu because i wanted to save even that 1 watt.(ridiculous i know)
After a little while turned on and it just wouldn't start up,I opened it checked every connection to be sure there was not a burned slot or bad contact.None worked.I called my uncle ,who gave me this psu, and asked him if knew what was causing the problem he didn't know but told not to turn the psu off again.After a little bit of experimentation i concluded that if it would turn off the I have to wait two and a half hours before I could open it again. When i said that I reconnected everything it was the two cables that go to the motherboard and the outer power cable that goes into the psu.The only thing that seems stange to me is that one of the cables going to the mobo is not fiting very well in its slot but it connects normally.otherwise the pc wouldnt work at all.

When you say that it may a electrical problem what do you mean?
Could it be that i will have to buy a ups or a new psu?

So after all this time i havent found any solution. I tried the power case button advice but still nothing.
But i found that people tried different cables and it worked.Dont know if it wil work but will try it how long does a capacitor discgarge?
When i normally shutdown my pc after seera minutes i hear some two little pops with an interval of 10 minutes and the first one starts after 30 minutes of the shutdown.
I guess the titke is also misleading so i will change it.
