I was thinking on buying this gigabyte h55m usb3 motherboard for my i5-750. I was in the market for an affordable 1156 socket motherboard with hdmi support when I found that. However, upon closer inspection I noticed in one of the notes on that product page that it said "To use on board display port, Hdmi, Dvi-D, and d subports, you must install an intel cpu with integrated graphics"?

Sooooooo, Wth? is this a joke?

Solution

That is correct your CPU does not have integrated graphics there for you will have to use a dedicated GPU.

It means that if you have a integrated GPU (intel hd 2000, 3000 etc) then you can use the computer without a graphics card by running the monitor through the onboard graphics. However your processor doesn't, this means you just plug in the graphics card and continue like normal, nothing gained and nothing lost.
