Desktop wont recognize HDTV

I connected both ends of the HDMI ports, from my desktop to my tv. My tv knows somethings has been connected but it wont show any picture. My desktop doesnt recognize my HDTV as a monitor , how do i fix this?

  1. What kind of video card are you using? Have you tried restart your PC while HDMI is plugged in?

    im not too sure , is ATI Raedon HD 5670 what your asking? And yeah, ive tried to restart my computer , but the tv still doesnt display anything =/

    im sorry , i dont know a thing about computers. Where do i find catalyst control center?

  7. What's your operating system? Windows 7, xp, 8? 32bit, 64bit? Right click on My Computer and click properties... it will give you info.

    Catalyst Control Center is the overarching program that handles your video card. It has been around since 2004. It should be installed. http://www.ati.com/products/catalystcontrolcenter/index.html

    Also you will probably have to put your tv in "pc mode". Check your tv manual for that.
  9. i have windows 7 64 bit. I figured u would tell me to download catalyst control , so i did. Now i have it downloaded what do i do?
  10. Install it. Have you downloaded this? http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/windows/Pages/radeonaiw_vista64.aspx


    If so simply click next and when installation askes you what to install select everything. Restart PC and do steps from begining of post.

    oh i downloaded wrong on i think, i did the auto detect system thing. let me redownload .
  12. Autodetect is fine. It's same thing, just make sure it's catalyst control suite.

    ok i finished downloading. it doesnt give me the option of force tv detection.

    it has

    1. detect whenever catalyst control center is opened
    2.use manual detection only ( i must the detect display button)

    Have you tried now to turn on your HDTV?

    yeah i just restarted computer and restarted tv, still no display. The catalyst thing doesnt detect the tv either

  20. Have you connected HDMI cable to HDMI in 1? Have you connected other part of HDMI cable next to your monitor cable on PC?

    right now ive connected my tv and monitor to my computer. There is a HDMI port on in my desktop so i connected that with the TV ( yes i connect in port 1 on my TV). I also using old cord to connect my old dell monitor to my desktop.

    oh ... my...god.... lol i feel so stupid. i just found out there were TWO hdmi ports on my desktop and i plugged in the wrong one... It works now, thank u soo much!!!!!!!! im soo sorry for all the trouble! But , if i didnt see that picture, i probably would have never figured it out! thank u !!!!!!!!!!
