Can't use 2nd HDD

I have 2 Hdds in my old dell optiplex gx260 and before the second hdd worked on windows xp but when i upgraded to vista it keeps on booting to the second hdd instead of the one with windows on it so i have to disable it in BIOS and i need to format it to put in my other pc.What do i do???

Simply switch SATA cable connectors on motherboard or between disks. It may be that the other one has priority.

If that does not help you'll need to explain before disks and after disks little more detailed.

Its not a sata board it an older ide board. Also if the drive is on my pc wont boot so i have to turn it off in the BIOS just so my system can boot

Have you set jumpers on PATA HDD? You should set it properly. The one that boots is Master and the one that does not is Slave so you need your Windows drive to be Master.
