The lowest end for Crossfire with the APU's IGP is a Radeon 6450 or a Radeon 6570 IIRC and the highest end for Crossfire with the APU's IGP is definitely a Radeon 6670.

you could purchase a card better than a 6670 however it wont be able to crossfire with the graphics in the A8

^+1 There's nothing wrong with purchasing a card above the 6670. The 6670 is simply the highest that supports Crossfire with the IGP of the Trinity (and also Llano) APUs. For example, just because it doesn't Crossfire with the APU's IGP doesn't mean that something like the Radeon 7850 is a bad card to have since it'll still be much faster than the Radeon 6670+IGP.

so what your saying is that i could still get crossfire between two discreet cards higher than the 6670 but i wouldn't be able to crossfire with the apu

That's right, at least so long as your motherboard has at least two full-length PCIe slots and usually so long as the two discrete cards have the same GPU.
