I have the mother board mentioned in the title and would like to upgrade the video to the 660 to better run X-Plane 10. The motherboard has one 16 pin slot and can support PCI Express video cards. My question is whether or not a 2-slot video card can fit, and whether or not the card, a PCI Express 3, will work and can be taken advantage of by my i5? Or are there other card suggestion. I am not a serious gamer, but would like a more realistic flight simulator than I'm able to get at 5 fps with the onboard video.

The PCIe version is irrelevant because PCIe is backwards compatible (although the PCIe 2.1 cards did have some trouble with some early PCIe 1 boards).

The number of expansion slots used up by the card only applies to the space it uses. It only needs one PCIe slot and it's cooler takes up enough space to block an additional slot.

Any desktop i5 should work fine with the GTX 660, granted you might not need to go that high-end to get decent performance. I think that even a much cheaper GTX 650 Ti will do the trick and I'm not sure if even it is overkill.
