2 monitor(1280x800) = 1 monitor 2560x1600

Will the 2 monitor(1280x800) require the same amount of gpu and cpu performance with 1 monitor(2560x1600)?
1280x2=2560 800x2=1600 2560x1600

Just FYI,

two monitors at 1280x800 each is the same as one monitor at 1810x1131 preserving the same aspect ratio. No such monitor exists.

2x1280x800 = sqrt(2) x sqrt(2) x 1280x800 = sqrt(2)x1280 x sqrt(2)x800 = 1810x1131

However, two monitors of 1280x800 has about 2 million pixels. One 1920x1080 monitor also has about 2 million pixels, so they are fairly close.

2 x 1280x800 is approximately 1 x 1920x1080

Your math is (humorously) wrong. When you have one monitor, you have 1280x800 pixels = 1,024,000 pixels. When you have two monitors you have 2x1280x800 = 2,048,000 pixels. What you did is multiply by 2 twice, essentially calculating the resoluton of 2*2 = 4 monitors. 4x1280x800= 4,096,000 pixels. You're off by two million pixels.

i didn't check his math lol...but to the point what ever pixels you have displayed it takes cpu/gpu horse power to render whether its one monitor, 2 or even 3, etc.

Yes, but his question was if 2 1280x800 monitors would perform the same as 1 2560x1600 monitor and the answer is no, it will perform at probably twice the speed of 1 2560x1600 monitor.

didn''t argue that you are correct. as i said in my post i didn't check his math...all i was saying was a general rule...if you have pixels displayed whether one or two monitors it still takes the same cpu/gpu power to drive them...ie say he have a single display that was 2044800 pixels total (yes its fictional as it doesn't exist) and two displays that total the same...it take same horse power to drive two displays with same total number of pixels as one monitor with same pixel count
 


yeah true, but this only applies in Windows. Not when an app or game is run on ONE display.

If he is only playing on one monitor then yea, but you can use Eyefinity on two monitors (though I don't know why anyone would want to do that).

 


LOL can, and will are 2 very different things... The center of the game(crosshair on a shooter for example) would be right between the screens(bezel).
