Bios trying to boot ide instead of sata NEED HELP?

my hdd recently broke so i got a new one and got a friend to install window 7 onto it, once i plugged it into my pc it kept coming up with this http://imgur.com/vxJ1i52 from what i know it knows the hdd is pluged in but isn't booting it. i have played around in the cmos setting and boot options but to no avail so please any advice would be loved and cherished.... Do you have a sata configuration or southbridge configuration in the bios settings which will allow you to select AHCI instead of IDE mode?

well if you reboot your computer, enter into the bios and check your settings to see if there is a way to change it from legacy ide to ahci

you could always take the side cover off and look at the motherboard, it is usually written on it.

okay, well when you can post the model of MOBO you have, I can try and help you out some more. The menu layout for different motherboards is different so until I know more, I won't be able to tell you more.
