Which affordable card?

Hi

I have a AMD Phenom XII 955 with a Gigabyte MA750GT-UD3H with 4GB of Ram in an Antec Sonato II and was looking for an upgrade from the motherboard graphics card to an affordable option. I will be using it for gaming and video playback. Does anyone have any suggestions on cards?

Affordable to me at the moment is around the £50-£80.

Maybe something like an HD 7750.

I might suggest a 7750. It is the strongest card you can use without needing a psu that has an auxiliary 6 pin pci-e power adapter.

If you have such a psu, then a 7770 might be within your budget.

Either should be a nice upgrade from motherboard graphics.

what is your Power supplies wattage and what kind is it? you need 400 watts to use either a 7750 or 7770...but both would be good cards if your PSU is up to the task.

Indeed, check your power supply.

ASUS 7750 for 73.99 If oyou are getting a 7750, make sure you get the DDR5 version.

HIS 7770 for 86.99

I have a Antec Earthwatts 500W power supply that came with the case and it does have a 6-pin PCI-e plug on it. Is there much difference between the HIS 7770 and the Asus one and should I spend the little bit extra to get the 2GB GDDR5 or is it not that important?

Your psu is a good one.

You get what you pay for in all but the very top end of graphics cards.

If your budget permits, buy the strongest graphics card you feel comfortable paying for.
It will allow more fps or eye candy.

What resolution is your monitor?

Also, on the 29th, the 7790 will be on sale.Here is one, a Sapphire 7790, for pre-order at 119.99. It is almost the same price as the 2gb 7770 you listed, but this 7790 has only 1gb.

Not to count out Nvidia since we are aling about slightly more expensive cards, also look at the GTX 650 TI.
