1. Thanks, but i downloaded from official website many times, and nothing.
2. Nvidia GForce 8400, laptop Acer Aspire 5720, core 2, 1 gb ram, windows 7
3. Im not sure if they are correct, but they were suggested by official website, although it said for notebooks, and i need for laptop, or i guess its the same?
4. Card is not new as laptop is 5 years old, but i never replaced the card.

After I reinstalled my Windows 7 i tried to install Nvidia drivers (i did it a lot of times,it was always fine). Laptop worked fine without driver but obviously I could not open bigger games (Sims 3) and some programs and windows aero doesn't work.

So I downloaded suggested by official Nvidia website driver ( for some reason it said for notebooks, is that the same as for laptops?) and successfully installed it and as system asked restarted laptop.

After restart everything went wrong, it was massive pixels on the screen, windows didn't fit, and colours were not wright.

I restored system to the latest point and it was ok again, i installed driver again and restarted. This time it was fine but wrong resolution, so I changed screen resolution and the same pixels problem came out.

Thank you for reply, Im sure my laptop has one as there is a sticker on it saying Gforse 8400 and i instealled drivers for it many times in the past, but the problem appears only now.
I did what you said on Nvidia website ( thats how I always do it) but this time it just crashes after restart, and no games no windows aero still dont work. Is it possible hat the card is broken and needs replacing? Or if it was broken the screen would be blank at all (here it all works without driver except games and aero)

At the moment there is no installed nvidia driver, so in device manager display adapter it says Standard VGA graphics adapter, no yellow indicator. But when i had nvidia installed last time there was name of it (nvidia gforce 8400..) and there was yellow indicator.

Something just caught my eye.
You say that when there is no driver installed it says "Standard VGA Adapter".
But that shouldn't happen in Windows 7. Windows 7 has inbuilt WDDM drivers for old nvidia cards. I have a 8600GT in one of the laptops lying around in the house and when i install windows it automatically installs the WDDM1.1 version of the driver for that card.
My best bet in this case would be something is wrong with your card. Or you could try reinstalling windows and see if this time windows installs the default driver for your card.

When i started installing this intel driver it said there is no installable files, no supported software, i went to automatic search in intel download centre and it said that Standard vga graphic adapter is unknown or unsupported. Dont know what to do :(

I just installed official driver again and in device manager it says Nvidia geforce 8400m gs, the one that i installed, but there is yellow indicator next to it, it says : windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems (code 43)

Anyone had that before?

There are two versions of this laptop the the Aspire 5720 and the Aspire 5720'G' which has a graphics card

Yes I have had the dreaded yellow indicator before and for me it meant my graphics card was dying, after several days of graphics problems I eventually lost the screen all together. Back your documents up asap
