I am just new to overclocking, lately i am not satisfied with how my i5-650 @ 3.2Ghz Stock clock coz i play heavy games and it loads slow. So i started reading about OC or overclocking, i've learned things here and there and i OC'ed my cpu from the BIOS, after tweaking things i finally OC'ed my i5-650 from 3.2 to 3.8 i was happy with the results when i play games like crysis 2, nfs MW 2012, max payne 3. I also did a Prime95 stress test and my pc didnt crash or restarted, i also Downloaded "Core Clock" utility to monitor my cpu temps, but readings say i reach 85 degress celsius on full load! I have no idea is this safe? i dont crash at all which is good but i want to ask experienced people with how would my oc do to my hardware. I need Help please! :(

and note that i am using the stock fan and heat sink by intel. Im torn between 2 rivers, im a little bit confused now 85 degress and im not crashing but is this safe???

hello jemm :) I downclocked it to 3.7 Ghz and the temp went down -12 Degress celsius i only reach 73 Degress celcius now when playing games like crysis 2 or max payne 3 idle is at 42-45, is it better now? Im not sure i can buy a after market cooling fan and sink at the moment :(

Yes, these are very good temps as it is OC to 3.7 GHz without a aftermarket CPU cooler -- 73C is basically your CPU Tcase, which is 72.6C.

So, as soon you keep it around 73C you won´t have any problems.
