My friend is selling his two reference Sapphire 7970s for a total of $500, I will be splitting the cost with a friend so I will only be paying $250 for one reference 7970. Is this a good deal? Is the card still worth it? I mostly play games while my friend who is buying the card with me is looking for a good computer to bring to college in a couple of years.

7970's are still relevant and you're getting a good deal. You should be good for another year or two before it really becomes outdated. Your friend should wait though, in "a couple years" a 7970 won't be very competitive anymore according to the performance differences between previous generations.

Yea thats worth it. a 7970 cost like $370 new. Since you know its functional i dont see a problem. I dont what you mean by "still worth it". The 7970 is one of the best cards you can get right now.

Also your other friend is wasting his money if hes going to build a computer to use in a few years because by then it would be outdated
