Getting desktop spread across two monitors

I just built a new computer and I have everything up and running. Has Windows7(64bit), Asus HD7770-DC-1GD5-2 dual head DVI-I card. I am trying configure Windows to spread my desktop over two displays like I have on my current PC. Right now Windows is simply displaying the same desktop on both monitors at the same time. In other words, each monitor is a mirror of the other one. Now comes the tricky part, lets just say to keep this story short, I no longer have the CD that came with the graphics card. I went out and downloaded the software for the video card and it said it loaded successfully but I cannot find the software that was loaded. I suspect that it will be the software for the video card that will make one big desktop over two monitors and not Windows 7. Can anyone verify if that is correct or not? If Windows can make one desktop over two monitors can someone please tell me how. When I look at what Windows thinks I have, it thinks I have only one monitor and when I use the pull down, there is no other option. Thanks for any help.

Right clickt he screen, go to resolution, and then go to stretch picture.

If not, look up catalyst Control Center in your computer, should be there, and access it, there should be an option for Eyefinity

Go to AMD's website and download the 13.1 driver, it works for all AMD video cards. That way you will have all of the multi screen options available to you. You don't need Asus's software and the driver is usually old.
http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/windows/Pages/radeonaiw_vista64.aspx
It says Vista, but is for Windows 7 too.
It's pretty self explanatory from there! I run 5 monitors and the desktop is across all 5! If you really want to make it cool check out Display Fusion software after you get your AMD video driver set up properly.
After 13.1 is installed, right click on the screen and you will see "AMD Vision Engine Control Center" on the top which is how you get into the Control center the easiest.

I noticed that you said "and when I use the pull down, there is no other option". If you don't see the Catalyst Control Center or the newer "AMD Vision Engine Control Center" as the top option then you are probably still using the Windows driver ( which can work across two screens ), but the AMD driver is far superior and if you intend on gaming you will want AMD's newest driver, because AMD is constantly updating their drivers for the best gaming experience on many popular games. It is not hard to install. It pretty much does everything for you. After download, just double click the file name and it takes care of the rest!
One more thing. It does ask you if want custom or express, just use express.

I am having difficulites downloading this package and installing it. It hung for over 9 hours trying to install. I finally had to kill the install task and goto work. I downloaded it again but cannot find the program. I was not present when the download finished so I do not know what happen. I will keep trying. The Catalyst Control Center will not run, I cannot remember the exact wording, but it cannot find any parameters to configure. Another observation I notice is windows is not recognizing two monitors only one.

I went to where you said to go but there is no option there to stretch the picture. I suspect that is because windows is not seeing my second monitor. It is only seeing one. When I try to run the Catalyst Control Center, a popup window comes up and say it has nothing to config so it is not going to start! Boy, I thought the hardware was hard to get going! Windows just cannot tell I have two monitors connected to the one and same video card!

1. Make sure this video card has a power connector connected to card........this card needs one!

2. After making sure you have the lastest and greatest BIOS, use the default settings!

3. Download he latest and greatest S/W applications for the video card!

I now have one desktop across two monitors! Thanks to all for your help!
