This build is going to be mainly for gaming, as I don't do much video editing ever really. Although I am having a hard time deciding between the two. I know that the 8350 runs at 4.0 GHz stock and the 6300 at 3.5 GHZ stock but I hear that speed doesn't matter as much. Which one of these choices would be better? I am upgrading from an EVGA GTS 250 1GB video card and I run at a 1360x768 resolution.

The 6300 + the 660 or a radeon 7870

You can overclock the 6300 . Mine hit 4.7 GHz with no extra voltage ....but i am using a big cooler

For that low a resolution I would go with the FX8350 and 650Ti. If you had 1080P then you would need the power of the GTX660.

you need to go check out some of the crysis 3 benchmarks . The intel dual cores suck , and the AMD FX 6300 can outperform an i5 .
Benchmarking using older DX9 games that cant use all the cores gives a false impression of the cpu's potential

Agreed.
Such a resolution would be a simple task for either cpu/gpu combo, but it's good to make room for the future. :)
Also, 650TI Boost 2GB instead of the 1GB(evga has both versions). The difference in price is negligible imo.

Though I like anandtech.com, most of their cpu bench's are a bit .... hm.... not full of variety? If you look closely at the benchmarks, the types of applications makes a difference. Ex: CineBench single/multithreaded.

The build is for gaming and as such the order of gaming power should be [i3 --> 6300 --> 8350 ---> i5-3570(k)]
