So I'm building a new PC, first I was going to buy HD 7770 whose power requirement according to its description was 450W. But then I collected some more cash and now I'm thinking of buying HD 7850 for I want to play games on high setting on 1080p resolution. In the initial build I opted for Corsair VS450 PSU as it is cheap and of good quality. Here are my full PC specs-

AMD 3.3 GHz FX6100 Processor
Gigabyte GA-78LMT-USB3 Motherboard
Kingston V100 64 GB SSD + Old 250GB HDD
DDR3-1600 8 GB RAM
Corsair VS450 450 Watt PSU
Sapphire AMD/ATI HD 7850 1GB Graphic Card

GPU's description says that minimum 500W is required, but according to other PSU calculators which just calculates the Watts I'll be fine with a 450W PSU. Here in some thread I read only Watts doesn't matter but also stuff like v2.31 12v rail etc. I'm new to all this stuff and building a PC for the first time. So now my question is will I'll be fine with this PSU or I need to get a better one?

Will overclocking 7850 to the extent of 7850 OC will still be fine with PSU?

So do you think getting 475W or 550W PSU will be better for future proofing?

It depends, if you plan to have more than 1 HD7850 in XFire or even something which is more power hungry such as HD7970 or you would like to OC your proc...etc. etc..
You will need a stronger PSU.

As how much...
It is also depending on your plan, 550W for example is not enough for XFire.

Use this as basis calculation:

I just want to overclock my 7850 to the extent of 7850 OC, i.e. from 860MHz to 900Mhz. I may not overclock my processor though...

I think 550W should be enough, I would prefer the 550W.
It will give you enough room for GPU OC and future proc OC...just don't go XFire or SLI with 550W.

Thank you very much! I guess now maybe I will swap SSD for a better PSU and maybe some games on Steam sale! :D
