Hi..!

I'm planning to build a relatively strong pc, that could also be upgraded in the future.

Planned use for a variety of things:
Photoshop (very high res. image editing), 3D architecture programs + rendering realistic models (private use)
HD movie editing
Gaming (occasionally, but than in super high settings)

CPU: Intel Core i7 i7-3820 3.60 GHz - Socket R LGA-2011 - Quad-core (4 Core) - 10 MB Cache

Motherboard: Asus P9X79 Desktop Motherboard - Intel X79 Express Chipset - Socket R LGA-2011 - ATX - 1 x Processor Support - 64 GB DDR3 SDRAM Maximum RAM - SLI, CrossFireX Support - Serial ATA/300, Serial ATA/600 RAID Supported Controller - 3 x PCIe x16 Slot - 4 x USB 3.0 Port

RAM: Kingston HyperX blu KHX1600C9AD3B1K2/4G RAM Module - 4 GB (2 x 2 GB) - DDR3 SDRAM

GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX 660 Graphic Card - 993 MHz Core - 2 GB GDDR5 SDRAM - PCI-Express 3.0 x16 - 6008 MHz Memory Clock - 2560 x 1600 - SLI - Fan Cooler - DirectX 11.0, OpenGL 4.2 - HDMI - DisplayPort - DVI

PSU: Corsair Gaming GS700 ATX12V & EPS12V Power Supply - 85% Efficiency - 700 W

OS: Win 7 64bit

Intel SSD 40Gb as system drive
1TB "Storage drive"

Whats your opinion/advice on this setup-
Would you build it? ))

Whats your budget and country of residence?

To start though, no i wouldn't buy that system. X79 is very high end and you've combined it with some seriously low end components.

4gb of RAM is too low for a rendering machine, at the very least you want 8, probably more like 16 though.
40gb SSD is too small, i would recommend at least 120/128gb.
Far too large a PSU, that wattage is not necessary.
GPU could stand to be improved, depending on the priority of rendering over gaming a workstation card could be advisable.

We need to see the budget but after the savings from dropping the X79 platform it's likely a GTX 670 could fit in the system as opposed to using the older 570.

With the kind of work you will be doing you will absolutely want to get some more RAM. 8GB minimum, but you may be one of those few people that can actually benefit from having 16GB of RAM, which is pointless for gaming, but could be useful for your intentions. You could probably scale down to a 3770K, but the 3820 will also suit your needs well. I would also get a larger SSD, 40GB does not leave you much room for expansion, I have a 120GB SSD and after the CS6 Suite and Windows 7 installed I only have about 50GB or so left for anything else, I have 0 games on my SSD, remember you will not have exactly 40GB to work from, it will be several GB less formatted. Plus you will get better speeds from a larger SSD.

Thanks for your quick reply,
Ok, so right now I'm in Hungary-
My budget is about 650 to 700 Euros. (Right now the Euro-HUF is doing horrible, but I dont mind waiting 1-3 months till it recovers)
Another note, I have access to a distributor therefore I get slightly better prices.
Right now it would cost me about 510 Euros to buy:
CPU
RAM
MB
PSU
GPU
(From the list above)
IMPORTANT!
There are certain parts I already have!
Win 7 64bit
SSD and HDD (I also feel the 40Gb SSD as way to small, so actually lets add another SSD to the "Still need" list)
all other accessories

LGA 1155 or 2011? Thats was the dilemma, I chose 2011 cause I was hoping to upgrade with stronger CPU and adding more ram in the future, etc... But I'd be glad to hear your views on which is better.

RAM: So how about if I throw in 2 more pairs of the RAM I mentioned, giving 8 gigs total at this stage?

Thanx!

I think for your budget you should aim for something like the below. As the prices are likely to be more expensive in your country i have tried not to use the whole budget.
