Making a small upgrade until I get some serious money to make my dream machine, wil it work?

I am currently using a factory lenovo brand computer with an i3 550 processor @3.2ghz with intel hd graphics and 6gb of ram, which gives me approximately 10fps on the lowest resolution and lowest setting on dayz (arma 2 mod) all I really want to do for now is play dayz, I will hopefully get the money for my dream build before dayz standalone comes out (runs from arma 3 engine, I believe) I play some other games like wow, eq2, tf2, other steam games, etc., but I have to play at bare minimum settings on those games also. So, basically I want to use this card: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/searchtools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=7457547&SRCCODE=WEBGOOPA&cm_mmc_o=mH4CjC7BBTkwCjCV1-CjCE&gclid=CKqv6qDpmLYCFYpDMgodYUkAFQ

This card should run most games at low or medium settings at lower than optimal resolutions, correct? (with decent fps)

But, the computer I am currently using has a 280w psu with a bunch of Chinese writing on it, I just don't want to risk destroying our family computer, because I would be in trouble, very, very bad trouble (I'm 15 btw) So, what is the cheapest power supply that I can use with the described system without potentially destroying the computer, I was thinking corsair builder series 430w, but if anyone has any better suggestions, then I am completely open to them, also if anyone has suggestions on a better graphics card (cheap is what I'm aiming for, since this is a temporary build) I am open to suggestions, the main reason for this gpu is because with the rebate IT'S ONLY 50 BUCKS, that is the best deal that I have seen.
In theory this temporary build should work right? Sorry for long post, need some advice from the tech gurus on tomshardware :)

Why a 500w psu? also im getting a gtx 650 instead of radeon because in this instance it costs the same and gets better performance, but thanks for the suggestion.
