Hey guys, I wanted to add a second dvd drive to my comp that uses ide. I only have one ide port on my motherboard which is being used by my psu. I was wondering, does anybody know of a special cable to allow the use of my ide dvd drive also
? Thanks for any help guys.

PSUs don't use IDE/PATA cables as far as I'm aware. Are you sure about that?

Also, there are many IDE/PATA cables that support two devices. IDE/PATE natively supports two devices per channel, so you don't need any splitter. You can find a cable all over, especially in places such as Ebay and Amzon and it shouldn't cost much more than a dollar or two AFAIK.

Your PSU doesn't use a IDE cable. Most likely you are referring to the 24+4 pin power port. They look similar. Likely your motherboard had no IDE ports. You will need to connect your devices via SATA.

Gotcha there. Thank you. I am trying to use the lg-gdr 8164b dvd drive and, as far as I can tell, it is ide only. So there are ide to sata cables though huh?

No, not all IDE cables have two drive-end connectors. I have many that only have a single drive-end connector.

For a DVD drive the best option would be to buy a new SATA DVD drive. They're only about $19 USD. A IDE to Sata convertor, if they even exist, will likely be much more expensive.
