I am upgrading my pc to be adequate for gaming to an extent (meaning that I can play arma 2, tf2, wow, eq2, other source games at low to medium settings with 30+ fps) I have an i3 550 @3.20ghz, 6gb ram and integrated graphics. I am planning to upgrade to either of these cards until I can build a completely new pc with the adequate components to play any game out right now on ultra, but that's a different thread :D On amazon, I can get the regular 650 for $80 with the rebate and the 650 ti is $140 with the rebate, I am also getting a corsair 430w builder series psu, because my current psu is a cheap 280w, so is it really worth the extra $60? (remember this is a temporary build until I get the money to buy my $1400 pc

This. 7790 is coming out soon and should sell at an MSRP of $160. Expect prices to go up as high as $180 though. If I were you I would wait and get the 7790. If not then get the 650 Ti since you can get it for cheap, the only exception is if you can get a 7770 for around $100.

Sorry I lied. Didn't know they were already for sale. For $150 that has got to be the best card.

i actually just thought of something, what if I get the psu and gpu from my "dream pc" build and put them in this computer, the cpu will definitely be a bottleneck, but it will give me the best performance, and then when I get my other parts for my better pc, I will just put the crappy 280w back in my current computer, would that work??? then i'm not spending any extra money

PSU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139010 or http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139011 (can't decide yet if the extra pci and 4 pin peripherals on the 850w will come in handy yet)

GPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127667

no, you misunderstood, in the original post, i said that I have a build planned out for a pc that can play all available games on high settings which include the gpu and psu in my last post, my original post is asking for opinions on the gpu for my temporary upgrade to the computer I am currently using, so that i can play some computer games (such as dayz) before I get all of the money for my $1400 build. I have just thought of a solution that doesn't require me to buy extra components for my temporary upgrade, I can get the psu and gpu from my expensive build and put it in my temporary upgrade, so when I get the money, I can then buy the rest of the components for my expensive build and build it, while also putting the 280w psu back in my computer that I used for the temporary build, leaving me with 2 operational pcs, one for gaming and one for the family computer, (which is what it is) would this work?

Yes that would work sorry i misunderstood

ya i figured that the msi twin frozr edition of the 7950 would be better for ocing than any other model of 7950, is this true?
Also, I would get the cheaper hx650 corsair, but it has less connectors (not sure if I need em or not) but the main thing is that the 650w psus are known to have a VERY loud chirping noise, and not having extra noise is worth $30 to me :)

Do you think that there would be a risk of the components being damaged in any way, probably not, but I figured that I would ask because the psu and gpu are worth more than the pc brand new :ouch:
