Hi. I want to upgrade my Small Form Factor HP dc5800. Can I move everything into a new case and upgrade the power supply and video card? Will a full size video card be compatible with the motherboard in the PCI Express x16 slot? Is there anything I should know before upgrading? Thanks for your time! :)

You'll be fine, yes, and you get bonus points for realizing you need a new case and power supply!

You shouldn't need more than 550w at most, but make sure you get a reliable brand.

Finally, and this one is a biggie... What generation is that PCIe slot? If it's 2.0 or 3.0, then you're fine - if it's 1.0, then you might have some bottlenecking issues.

Okay. Thank you! :) How do I identify the generation of the PCIe slot? Also, are there any video card solutions for my current setup with a 240 PSU? I'm trying to upgrade it just enough to play games like Garry's Mod, Minecraft, etc. with decent graphics and no lag. Should I upgrade case, psu, and video card, or would I be fine with just installing a good low-profile card?
