Ok, I have an old Emachines I'm trying to get a little bit more out of(its a loaner, long story) I realize that no matter what I put into it, its still going to be a POS. With that being said, the mobo is eMachines EMCP73VT-PM. All I know is its socket LGA775 and its dated technology. It has a single core celeron 450 @2.2ghz.
My question is, will this core 2 quad just clip in and work fine? I've looked around and I've found plenty of help on actually installing the cpu, but nothing on if it will work with my system. I just wonder if i wasted my money as i already ordered the cpu.
My mobo is above, the exact cpu I ordered is Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 SLACR 2.40GHZ 8MB 1066MHZ Socket LGA775.
Any help(preferably good news lol) would be greatly appreciated. thank you

So long as your heatsink is up to the task, I don't expect any problems. The thing that matters is the socket compatibility. I didn't bother searching anything, as every socket 775 is supposed to support every CPU which fits socket 775.

That's a big upgrade, hope you enjoy it!
