PCI-e backwards compatibility

Probably a stupid question but just making sure as I cant remember, I have a GT 640 gpu, which is PCI-e 3. Planning to get a new motherboard, which has a PCI-e 2 slot, will there be much of a power loss?

Unless you have one of the fastest dual gpu cards(you don't), you will not loose hardly anything. In your case, the card is not that fast so your loss will be non existent.

no pci exp are backward compaibilty.there will no power or performance loss at all.
