hello , i have a reference sapphire 7970 ,and i have read many articles concerning overclocking this gpu most of which assure the user that a 7970 can be clocked to 1125 mhz easily with the memory overclocked to 1575 mhz on stock voltage ,however the i can only achieve 1075 mhz core clock and a memory clock of 1575 ,adding voltage doesn't solve the problem ,anything beyond 1075 will cause artifacts in furmark ,temps are within normal range so thats ruled out, question is , is it safe to say that the psu is the problem here ? specs are :

Motherboard : Intel DH67BG
CPU: i5-3570 non k
GPU: reference sapphire 7970
PSU: thermaltake 600 W litepower series (double +12 v railings i believe)

Solution
OCing GPUs are like a lucky packet. Sometimes it may just not OC as much. ANY HD7970 will reach 1000+MHZ though. Which is VERY good. You have the fastest single affordable GPU on the planet... So be happy and enjoy.

HOWEVER your PSU is not the most stable, it could improve an OC with a more stable PSU. But doubtful, if you want to try, get a unit that will aloow Xfire so that you don't end up wasting to much cash for just a possibly better OC.

thanks a lot dude, im planning on getting a new psu anyways , so il try and see what happens ,and your right it is a great gpu anyway wether it oc's beyond 1075 or not :D

Precisely. Consider 850W unit to allow enough headroom for an OC and Xfire. Here is a guide of good PSUs..
