According to Ken Levine the creative director of Bioshock Infinite, it was a deliberate move not to make Elizabeth too realistic and use a more stylistic approach to her character.
Since I have not played it yet how does the game stack up to the first Bioshock? All the reviews say it's the best game in years.
I've only played a few hours so far but it's a lot like the first one. The environment is fantastic. My only gripe is it plays like all the other modern shooters, meaning there is regenerating health and only being able to hold two weapons at a time.

well its more realistic with only 2 weapons. I mean who can run around with 7 guns on their back? Also you have to plan what gun to use and I assume you run out of ammo faster that way so its a challenge.
