Hi all, I'll try to keep this as short and detailed as I can.

Recently, I purchased a GTX 660ti & GTX 660 graphics cards. Step one failed, as I could not close the top cover of my HTPC case with the power connectors in place..both cards. Purchased another case (much taller), returned the cards.

I did however try the cards out with the cover off, and games ran smooth as butter, only a few stutters here and there. I have an AMD A8 3870k APU in a cheap Biostar MB.

With the new case, I'm leaning towards building a new system.

There are a few issues I'd like to get sorted out, before I start buying parts.

1. AMD A8 APU/Biostar TA75m board, runs great, however, while playing videos there is a TON of flashing when there is a lot of one color in the background. Best example, jeopardy, blue background, picture will strobe flash. This happened on my big-screen tv as well as my new Projector the PC is currently hooked up to. I'm pretty sure this is something with the MB HDMI output. Happens constantly, with bright backgrounds on tv shows, movies, even browser.

-While the GTX 660ti / 660 were in, this did not happen at all. However, the Nvidia Cards came with their own set of problems.

1. From the get-go, the overall picture was 10-20% dimmer. Along with the desktop background, when I ran Firefox to the Google homepage, I immediately noticed the white background, was almost brown. Few other programs, I noticed the same thing. Any application that was not dark themed, was extremely dull and much dimmer. Also, text would show up as bold/not bold and weird colors around words.

2. The real annoying part with the Nvidia cards, was anytime I opened a program in admin mode, (installing winrar, driver, steam) and windows does the "Click Yes/No to give admin permissions" the Nvidia cards would blank my display, as if it was changing resolution, and come back on (same res.) 10-15 seconds later(projector is slow to come back) No biggie I guess when you are hooked into a monitor, but when you run to a receiver/projector, this takes forever. It NEVER happens on the AMD APU. I can hear the beep, screen goes dim for a moment, but doesn't shut the display off...it just dims, and the dialog box pops up. Games did the same thing. If my PC was set to 1080p 60/Hz and the game
Was set to 1080P 60Hz, it would still blank the display...no way around it...The AMD, again, does not do it. If the desktop/game are set to the same configuration it will simply load and play, not cut off the signal.

Has anyone ran into these problems? I am leaning towards an AMD Fx6300 CPU with a Radeon 7870 card, to mainly get rid of the HDMI signal going blank while trying to access admin privileges / running games...I am scared however, that the video flashing will remain?

Any input would be great. Thanks!

Why have you got a 660ti and 660 in your system? Are you trying to SLI? As far as I remember you cannot SLI different models of cards like that. Maybe that's where your problem lies. Maybe try running the 660 as a PhysX with your monitor only connected to the 660ti. That might stop the problem of the screen blanking
