Enter button not working in games

The enter button on my HP envy sleekbook doesn't work in games, e.g. It will say press enter to continue and when i press it nothing happens, i think it might be registering the enter key as the num enter key, but does anyone know a solution to this problem?

Does it work outside of games? I was having this problem with Bioshock Infinite last night and just kept clicking where it said [Enter]-Yes

open the games control panel and look for the "stock" configuration and use that particular key. Ubisoft screwed everybody with FC3 ( not everybody, just PC gamers that use keyboards and mice ) because you can't enable the enter key.
