Uninstalling avast antivirus

I'v this really sick avast on my pc it doesn't upgrade or update so i decided to uninstall and it wouldnt. I tried deleting it from program files and it refuse to what do i do?

Start -> Control panel -> Programs and features -> right click on 'avast!' -> uninstall/change.

DO NOT just delete folders in program files, unless you put them there (with unzipping for example), use the uninstall feature, which also removes stuff from registers and such.

That is exactly what i did and it didnt uninstall
