My 1TB WD external hard drive is unreadable

Hello,

I am using a 1TB external hard-drive to watch movies on my TV. It suddenly became unreadable. I tried connecting it to my laptop via USB, still no luck.
Kindly assist.

Sam

More about 1tb external hard drive unreadable
  1. you mean you have read errors? or your can't even see a drive letter? need more data!!!
  2. It could be a number of things:

    1) power supply could be dead ,is there a light and is it lit.
    2) have you ever dropped it, that can cause platter/head damage.
    3) download the Data Lifeguard Diagnostic for Windows
    4) if drive still does not show take it to a local computer shop and have them try a data recovery find out how much first and shop around.

No errors. Just nothing!!! I connect it to my TV, it doesnt detect. I connected to my laptop, still doesnt detect. The light on the Hard Drive blinks, but the laptop / TV does not detect the device at all...
  4. then it must be either the usb cable or your WD external hard drive usb controler is damaged you can remove your hdd from the damaged case and put on another or plug it directly to your pc. i bet it will work
