Its actually an AMD Athlon II X2 270 3.4GHz Socket AM3 Dual-Core Desktop Processor. I can't remember the video card but I think its like a geforce 8800. And the motherboard is a BIOSTAR A880GZ Micro ATX AMD Motherboard. And the game i'll prolly play most at first is heroes of newerth. Nvr built a pc before tho. Will these components suffice?

I agree with atomicWAR.

If its 2.8 ghz or more then its so so. A lot will depend on the game. Most games rely more on the GPU rather then the CPU but some are CPU intensive as well. Example: Battlefield 3 needs a lot of both. Another example: League of Legends relies mostly on the CPU not GPU. Final example: Skyrim tends to be more GPU heavy then CPU heavy (can require a lot of VRAM from the GPU).

Nice thing about AMD is, you can usually keep the same motherboard and upgrade your CPU. If you have an AM3 or AM3+ motherboard I would recommend upgrading the CPU. Find out which socket it is. Also, find out what wattage your motherboard will support. Is it a 95 watt or 125 watt. Some of the higher tier AMD CPUs need a 125 watt approved motherboard.

As atomicWAR was saying though, most games rely on the GPU. So depending on the game you're playing you could probably just get a decent GPU and you should get some alright performance. If you want to tell us what you typically play we could probably give you better recommendations.

For HoN that will run it just fine.

For your motherboard you have an AM3+ board and it can run up to 125 watt CPUs so you should be able to upgrade your CPU in the future to Piledriver and the next few generations after that, if you like. Next upgrade I would recommend though is defiantly the GPU. That's a very old GPU. About five generations ago. If it gets the job done for now and you're happy with it, ride it out as long as you can. Might as well save yourself the money.
