Updated my motherboard, DVD drive not reading

Updated my Motherboard and now the DVD drive won't read a single cd, do i have to update the drive accordingly?

Ensure:

-the dvd drive is connected to power
-the dvd drive is connected to the motherboard

It really should be just as simple as that. Maybe a sata cable is loose or something.

can't see any loose cables in the cabinet and those that are going from the drive are not loose either
BTW: by motherboard is PQ5L Pro

Does the drive show up in My Computer? If not, go to device manager and try scanning for new hardware.

If that doesn't work, try plugging the drive into a different sata slot.

You've tried with multiple DVDs?

Was the drive mishandled at all during the swap?

Although some would say not to, perhaps running a lens cleaning disc through it may fix the issue.

Have tried with 2 games and one windows 7 install disc...nothing. When i insert the discs the drive makes some noise but nothing shows in "my computer", when i then try to click on the drive to "open" the disc it says "insert a disc"
