M4A79XTD EVO Time for an upgrade?

Hi,

I'm currently running an AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition CPU on stock clock with an EVGA Signiture 2 GTX 660 Ti. Would upgrading my motherboard to a 990FX motherboard make get me any more gaming performance? Or has the old 700 series Asus still got life in it.

I had an old Athlon quad core before the phenom, I managed to get it brand new for £50 so it was worth it. I'd like to overclock it but I don't know how, I know I can do it through AMD Overdrive, or get the download from Asus to do it in my BIOS but I wouldn't know how to do it safely.

google. and search for sticky threads (walkthroughs) that other people have made. I'm 90% sure there has to be one on Tom's cause there was one for my CPU and we both have very common CPU's. it's not tough and very interesting to learn about.

So as a bottom line, wait for either AMD or Intel to bring out new CPU's and in the meantime learn to overclock this?
