Max Temp for GT650M?

Hi All,

I'm running EVGA Precision X currently and the average Temp I'm getting whilst running 'Unigine Heaven DX11' is 74-73 max so far.

Current GPU Clock@ 969MHz (Whilst running Unigine Heaven)

Started of increasing the Clock GPU up to max +135MHz MAX (in Precision X)
and I have also increased the Memory Clock by +300MHz

(Both from Stock settings)

What temp would be the max to stop at? Is 74 Celcius too High or High enough?
Or should I decrease the Clock until an average of 70 celcius is shown?

Thanks,

A Noob at Overclocking

80C or so is usually regarded as a maximum safe temperature IIRC. 74C should be safe, but you might want to get it at least a little lower.

Whether or not you'll get past 74C in heavy gaming like you do in Heaven is something that I'd recommend testing before making any decisions on it.

At the temperature of 97-98 celcius, as most of the 600 series GPUs I believe. The GPU will shut down if the temperature exceed the just mentioned temperature.

A lot of people often believe that temperatures of 80-90 celcius are bad. They're not awesome, but the GPU is made to handle such temperatures. IF you're unhappy with the temperatures you currently got, then you possibly could install MSI afterburner, EVGA precision etc. and increase the GPU fan speed.

Ok, I'm now currently running BF3 and it states that my GPU Clock is at 915MHz, but how do I increase this? I've trieincreasing it in nvidia inspector but no change. it just stays at 915MHz.

That's probably Nvidia's Turbo in action. If you increase the fan RPM to decrease temperature, it might let the GPU go to a higher clock. If not, then that may be as high as you can go for BF3 in that situation.

The softwares to increase your GPU fan speed as I mentioned also are great for overclocking. However it might be difficult overclocking laptop GPUs, and you would like to be careful with such. It's not the same, as on a desktop.

I can't even control the Fan Speed; Its Locked.

Exactly, a lot of times Nvidia or AMD don't even allow you configure anything with the GPU on a laptop. :)
