It depends on your game.
If your game is BF3 multiplayer, then yes. In single player perhaps not.
To help clarify your options, run these two tests:
a) Run your games, but lower your resolution and eye candy.
If your FPS increases, it indicates that your cpu is strong enough to drive a better graphics configuration.
If your FPS stays the same, you are likely cpu limited.
b) Limit your cpu, either by reducing the OC, or, in windows power management, limit the maximum cpu% to something like 50%.
This will simulate what a lack of cpu power will do.
Go to control panel/power options/change plan settings/change advanced power settings/processor power management/maximum processor state/
set to 50% and see how you do.
If your FPS drops significantly, it is an indicator that your cpu is the limiting factor, and a cpu upgrade is in order.
It is possible that both tests are positive, indicating that you have a well balanced system, and both cpu and gpu need to be upgraded to get better gaming FPS.

It tells me that for the game you tested, you are more graphics limited than cpu limited.
The i3-2100 is very capable for a dual core, and you have hyperthreading which acts like two added cores of perhaps 1/4 capability each. What game was it you tested? You might see if this behavior prevails if you test other games.

Again, the benefit of upgrading your CPU varies significantly by the game.
However your average gaming experience would benefit more from a better graphics card than a better CPU. You have a fairly nice gaming PC so it's hard for me to recommend upgrading anything in general. My advice is to bank the money and build a new PC in a few years.
*I strongly recommend TWEAKING the game to achieve 60FPS rather than investing a lot of money for what's likely a small improvement. For example:
1. Start FRAPS
2. Start the game and disable VSYNC
3. Tweak the quality, resolution etc. for the best graphics until you RARELY dip below 60FPS
4. Turn VSYNC ON.
