Recently I can't run FRAPS and certain games.
For example, Guild Wars 2 is perfectly fine. I can even run 10 tabs on Firefox, Sony Vegas Pro, and photoshop whilst recording.
Here comes something better.. Crysis 3 on Ultra Graphics with Fraps on. No lag or fps drop rates whatsoever..

I cannot run BF3 nor MoH: Warfighter though even on Medium graphics with no programs running in the background AND overclocking my Graphics card.

When I turn off FRAPS though, Medal of Honor worked like a charm.
The problem is.. with FRAPS, I just got anywhere from 1-15 fps.
Whenever I hit the ASWD keys it hit below 5 fps.
When I turned off fraps, a good 30+ even sometimes 60.

The wierd part is that my computer should be able to handle this..
ESPECIALLY when Crysis 3 seems to run perfectly?

Here's my specs :
OS - Microsoft Windows 7 Professional 64-bit SP1

CPU - Intel Core i7 2600K @ 3.40GHz Sandy Bridge 32nm Technology
(Running WITH Corsair H80 CPU Liquid Cooling (Usually running 25-35 degrees celsius normal, 40-55 degrees with cpu intensive games)

RAM - 32.0 GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 686MHz (10-10-10-27)

Mobo - ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. SABERTOOTH Z77 (LGA1155) (Usually in the low 30's for degrees celsius for normal, high 30's/ low 40's for games)

GFX - HP w2207 (1680x1050@59Hz)
2436 (1920x1080@60Hz)
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680 {runs @ 132% Power w. 50% fans to be at 35-50 degrees celsius running}

HDD - 932GB Seagate ST1000DM003-9YN162 ATA Device (SATA) (low 30's for celsius)

Also has DVD-Ram and HD audio :p

But yeah, I need some help from the wise community to help me figure out what's wrong. I got all these parts back in early November 2012, spare 16gb of RAM which came in early December.

Thanks guys! :)

Hi,
We've got nearly the same setup. Of the games you mention I have only BF3, but if you give me the basic details I'll attempt to REPEAT so we can compare results.

How does changing the following FRAPS values affect your frame rate while capturing?

1) Video Capture Settings:
- 30FPS vs 60FPS
- Full-size vs Half-Size

2) Lock Framerate while recording

*FRAPS causes a significant hit to your frame rate to record your gameplay video. If you normally manage 60FPS without FRAPS recording, dropping below 60FPS can cause the game to resynch to 30FPS if you have VSYNC enabled.

I doubt there's an issue with your hardware or software. I suspect it's just the settings you've chosen. Unless your results deviate significantly from someone else's in similar conditions there's likely no issue.

(FYI, the PS4 hardware has a new "SHARE" feature which is awesome. It can sample the video output and put it on the Internet with little impact on game performance. I know the GTX680 can stream video and audio through the network by utilizing new hardware encoding, that's how SHIELD works, so maybe we'll see software that can record gameplay with minimal loss in the near future... )

thats one weird problem, did you try any other recording software? like xfire or msi afterburner video recording feature? it could be from the recording software that doesn't 100% optimized to a certain game or it could be the the gpu driver which is not fully optimized with that recording software besides you did not mention which version of nvidia's driver you're having, and also try to install the latest patches available because it might be also from the game it self not fully optimized.
