Should I just go ahead and purchase a GTX 670 by ASUS? I've heard also the TOP editions by ASUS have some major instability issues with overclocking. Is that why they were discontinued?

I'm currently looking a this:

I prefer the 4GB. Im just worried this version has the same issues as the TOP. I will be purchasing this in the middle of April. What you guys think?

I have installed over a dozen Asus 670's and nary a problem with any of them. I stopped buying the TOP for the same reason they stopped making them. In early production runs, yields are lower and uniformity is lower .... if ya wanna get the best reviews, ya hand pick the GPUs as ya don't wanna have the oddball low performer set a bad example for the line.

As the line matures, yields improve and the variability of each unit of the line becomes more consistent. I have had no problem overclocking Asus DCII's to the levels you see in the TOP reviews....and never saw a stability issue.

I heard the 700 series should only have 10 to 15 percent increase? If that's the case I'm fine with the 670. There's no such thing as future proofing and I don't mind spending money on the 670 as there discounted now. I know when the 700 series come out I'm going to force myself to spend the extra cash that I don't want to spend!

Great thanks a lot. Good to know the DC II stable. I assume by II its the second generation after the buggy unstable TOP edition?won't be overclocking anytime soon anyway. Jack you think I would be fine without the 700 series? I really want to build towards the end of the month and I don't want to have a GPU that won't be able to run a new game like Battlefield 4 on ultra. The 670 is very powerful and I know it play all current games on ultra. No way of telling what the performance of the 700 series will be but 10 percent does not justify waiting in my opinion. But since new console generations are coming out I heard the new series will be a significant improvement this time around.

Plus if I were to get the 670 I would just upgrade by series 800.
