Hi,
Thanks for the reply, but the thing is that my laptop does not have a cd slot and also it is difficult for me to get a linux OS now, IS there any other tool that can be used to clean the hard disk and then possibly install windows 7?

Gparted is an awesome tool for fudging with partitions -- even Windows partitions. Good advice!

You can try this tool, Be sure to read thru the tabs to get all the info you need. I have it on a disk that i burned to use for deleting Linux, But there are other ways to do it without a cd-rw, Maybe even a flash drive but not sure. Its basically the same thing "nukemaster" mentioned but you don't need any OS on the system to use it. Here's the sit link. http://www.cutepm.com/index.htm
Oh, Also this will leave the drive ready so you can install another OS, Such as Windows.

You can use a flash drive with this tool. It lets you boot almost anything. You can use almost any live linux and still get gparted. Ubuntu has it for sure as I use that for all my gparted needs. You just need the iso and it even gets it for you if you want. be aware this tool can erase your flash drive. so back it up first.

Hi everyone,
I have formatted my hdd completely and then installed windows but after rebooting the "grub rescue" still shows up. Any ideas?. ( I removed the hdd from my laptop connected it to a desktop and then I formatted it). Thought windows was installed but still no luck.

If the system has ONE drive, did you just FORMAT the drive, or did you check "disk management"(or Gparted) for extra partitions that hold the grub loader?

For instance, If i format my Windows partition, a System reserved partition will still be sitting on the drive trying to boot Windows.

Please run diskmgmt.msc from the Run window(Start + R then type "diskmgmt.msc"). Lets see what you are dealing with.
