Yesterday in in order to get a new device to work on my verizon wireless, the tech gave me a new ssid ? number and a new password. Now i can connect to the internet on my blueray player but cannot get netflix to play even though I am connected via wifi. Was something else changed. I forgot to tell the tech I have my blueray set up for wifi too.

SSID are only used within your house. To the outside world all that matters is the IP address of your router. Changing the SSID means very little but if they changed the password they may have changed the encryption method also. You really want to be running wpa2/AES but I have seen people change it to WEP to support old devices....you never want to do that. The key one I suspect he did was change your wireless channel.

I am assuming you can get to netflix site and get logged in and everything but you get black screen when you try to play stuff. I would guess you are getting errors and can get enough data to run the menus but not enough to play. This normally means interference when you are using wireless. I would see if you can change the wireless channel. Unfortunately many times you are better off learning to how your router works yourself than hoping the so called TECH can fix it.
