I decided that instead of buying a new computer I'd try my hand at building one. So far I have most of my items. And I wanted to know if anyone has some suggestions. First I am a casual gamer I'd like the best but I don't have to have it right now. So this is what I currently have.

Prodigy bitfenix case
Asus P8H77-I Mini itx Motherboard
Intel Core i5-3570K Ivy Bridge
XFX R7850 Radeon graphics card
Corsair Vengeance 8GB

I haven't picked out the power supply yet. I was wondering if anyone had suggestions also I was wondering if any one could tell me if my graphic card was any good? This build is for casual gaming and work/school.

Any suggestions would be great. I went the graphics card because I had a 300.00 best buy gift card and I got my memory and card with it.

Thanks!

Don't buy the 3570k if you want a H77 mobo. The 3570k is only useful for Z77 mobo.

That graphics card is decent. You can't max out all games but if you are a casual gamere than it is a good buy.

Look for PSUs in the 500-550W range. That is plenty for your build. Also, get 80+ bronze or higher.

Two choices: overclock or not?

Overclock : 3570k + Z77 Extreme 4 + Special cooler (CM Evo)
Not: 3470 + H77

I was new to overclocking, but it was easy. Instead of running my 2500k at 3.7GHz, instead I reach 4.4GHz. I like knowing I get more performance for the money. But if you want to take simple route and not have to tweak settings a lot then 3470+H77 is good choice.

I got the 3570k for like $10 more than the 3470 cost. Should I just return it and get the 3470 instead. I don't mind upgrading the motherboard to overclock some time in the future. As I am having fun building my first rig I'm certain my next will come soon or upgrading

No, do not return the 3570k. It is fantastic. You just need to learn how to overclock (invest 3 hours). You will need a Z77 to do it though, not H77.

ok sounds good.
Is this a good MB http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128568.
I mean i'd like to have some really good setting graphically but this computer will also be an all purpose computer as well. I use a vectorworks and CAD a bit. But I love my video games too.

Also my choice of video card was this one
XFX - Ultra OC Radeon 7850 1GB DDR5 PCI Express 3.0 Graphics Card-Model: FX-785A-ZN
EVGA - GeForce GTX 650 Ti 2GB GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 Graphics Card-Model: 02G-P4-3059-KB
EVGA - GeForce GTX 660 2GB GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 Graphics Card-Model: 02G-P4-3069-KB
EVGA - GeForce GTX 660 Ti 2GB GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 Graphics Card-Model: 02G-P4-4069-KB
NVIDIA - GeForce GTX 660 Ti 2GB GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 Graphics Card-Model: 900120042501000

The Reason why these were my choices was because I have a bestbuy gift card I needed to use so pickings were slim. Any suggestions on these? Honestly I went with the top one because it came with the new Bioshock,Tomb Raider,Hitman, &Crysis 3 I'm not expecting to max it all out. But I know I want to look at it and say to myself. " This looks wayyyy better than my console ports!!!" ya know?

For that price, I'd rather the ASRock Extreme 3.

If you don't need to max out then a 7850 is fine. I run a 660ti but i wanted to try Ultra once in my life. (can't n shouldn't game too much, so a one time thing) Before I had a 560ti, and I loved playing games on High and it was fantastic, and I enjoyed it tremendously. I probably should have been content but that's my nature not to be.

The choices of cards you listed are good. Obviously the 660ti is best, but do you need to spend that much money on a graphics card? I believe their is a relationship between how much you spend and how much time you play. Be modest.

If you get the 660 you'll play all games at great (not Ultra) settings which will look fantastic.

Do you think this is a good PSU?
http://www.amazon.com/Thermaltake-Power-Supply-240-Pin-TR-600/dp/B0058FAYQ2/ref=sr_1_3?m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1364526795&sr=1-3&keywords=Intel

Personally, I'd rather pick a top tier brand of PSU so I don't have to worry about problems or damage to my system. Also, make sure your PSU has 2 x 6 pin to connect to your XFX 7850 2GB. The two I listed are good quality and have a 2 x 6pins. The thermaltake also has 2 x 6pins , but I'd rather buy a Seasonic or XFX.

This PSU is $69 (XFX is manufactured by Seasonic):

This one is excellent for $74 (I own this one too):

You need a mini ITX. I almost forgot.

At max 16gb. Just buy 2 x 4gb. It is plenty unless you are a serious photographer/graphic person.

I highly recommend the BLACK BitFenix Prodigy instead of the white or red or orange ones because the BLACK one has a front mesh wall that can allow more air into the system. The other cases have bad air flow cuz not much air can get pulled in in the front.

To keep it cool and quiet. You'd want to remove the small 120mm front fan and put in a 200mm fan. This is needed to keep it cool cuz bottom tray blocks most of the front fan.

Great I was just curious of If should get another fan. So I order the XFX power supply and the fan. I already the black prodigy black case. so right now I have the following

Prodigy bitfenix case
Asus P8H77-I Mini itx Motherboard
Intel Core i5-3570K Ivy Bridge
XFX R7850 Radeon graphics card
Corsair Vengeance 8GB
Ordered-BitFenix Spectre Pro All Black 200mm Case Fan
Ordered-XFX ATX 550 Power Supply - P1550SXXB9

I would get a the motherboard you suggested but I already have it and I think I'm pass the point of being able returning it. Also I feel like maybe I should get the 3470 instead of the 3570. where I got it there was a mark down so I'll actually will get $60 back if I use this coupon I have.

Will I be giving up any thing will all the parts I have? I've been reading about into overclocking. Which I'm getting into But I can't return the motherboard I have right now. Not sure where I can sell it . I'm gonna see if I can return it. But I don't think I can. So am I sacrificing that much?

If you do overclock then you need to buy extra cooling. The stock heatsink/fan is not good enough for overclocking and should not be used. Most people on budget get:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103099&Tpk=cooler%20master%20evo&IsVirtualParent=1

If you can sell it...maybe try. If not then get a 3470. I think overclocking if fairly easy but you gotta spend a little time to learn the tweeks.

Your RAM. Is it 2 x 4gb?

btw, that case looks pretty cool. Mine (CM 431 elite) is ugly but it gets the job done.

My Ram is 2X4GB
also my GPU is 1G R7850

I think I should probably get the 3470. I really want to try overclock. But I'm still fairly a noob as to building my rig. Do you know if it's easy to uninstall a processor from a motherboard and install it on a new one?

Ok, your RAM is fine.

Did you get 1gb or 2gb 7850. 2gb is better.

Uninstalling a processor is fairly easy. It's not like swapping a new motherboard. The processor can be taken out and exchcanged but if it was a new motherboard then you'd have to reinstall it all.

Can you state which components you have at:

I have 2 tb hard drives I was going to install. So you thing I'm good with 3470 and h77 ?

100%. A good H77 + 3470 will be fast. But.. but. .if you want a different "fast" then also grab a $120 SSD and put OS n programs on it. Everything else gets slapped on the HDD. This is another boost that people overlook. I'm not talking the time between pushing power button to fully loaded, I'm talking click and program opens. Photoshop feels better too.

As far as H77+3470. Fantastic. It can handle all games Excellent and no lags.

Hey so I decided to just stick with the 3570K I thought about the extra boost. And you're right I hear so much great things about it. Also if I wanna change the Motherboard it will be a little easier to take it out of this case. I got my fans and all I'm waiting for is PCU which probably wont come until the end the of week. But I wanted to thank you for your insight. Are you a gamer by any chance?

I was checking out this very same video :)

I built my rig about a year ago and it has made me play more games. It was the first time I ever really played any games. And Battlefield 3 is definitely the best game ever.

I originally designed the rig for High gaming and photo editing. Since then I've made it faster (added SSD, a must)and better(560ti to 660ti). Also, cooling is important. I live in Taiwan for now (from US).

Is this your first build? It was for me, and I don't think I'll ever go back to a laptop.
