Basically I am looking to build an Intel machine somewhere in the six to seven hundred dollar range, pretty much going to be strictly for gaming.

I am currently on a dual core so it is definitely time for an upgrade, while fairly slow my computer has taught me patience, as such I would really rather build a system that has a solid foundation with some room for expansion later, I am not interested in 16gb of RAM etc, would prefer a K series processor if at all possible, overclocking is something that appeals to me.

I am also interested in playing this machine on a large screen from time to time, no plans on SLI/Crossfire.

Looking to get it within the next couple weeks, also no particular preference in sites.

Thanks for taking the time to read this!

Overclockable. The Xigmatek Gaia is just as good as the hyper 212 evo/plus while hovering at the $20 price range. Cheap, low profile ram which still performs well.

Thanks for pointing that out!

Oh, for some reason I though $800 budget instead of $700. Haha I'm sleepy. This goes over your budget just by $12, but it allows for overclocking. If you don't wish to exceed your budget, you could drop the cpu cooler and hold off the overclocking until you can afford the cpu cooler:

This one is cheaper and should still run your games, as well as having really robust parts.

Hi, put the price of the cpu in the normal websites, that card is out of stock for a long time, also the price is $762.92, you still have to pay that much :(
If the op doesn't need to oc the cpu, get the i5-3470 and h77, the price just went down for 185$, the mobo for 64$ ;)

It's a glitch in pcpartpicker. If you do the bbcode mark-up, it will automatically set it to the cheapest dealer (this case it's microcenter). It's $762, but there's $50 MIR. Unless the OP doesn't want mail-in rebates....which I could cut it down some more, but it would affect the performance a bit.
Also, the OP stated that he's interested in overclocking.

Hi, doesn't make sense to me downgrading the gpu for an i5-3570k, which will not bring any gains in performance with such cards, for gaming the priority is always the gpu, the i5-3470 doesn't bottleneck even the 7950 or 7970, spending more on the cpu than the gpu is a no go, for this kind of budget, the i5-3470 plus h77 is in my opinion the best choice, but it's up to the op, he can even add a 7950 in it.

I am interested yes, it is not a huge issue though, and I think I will be fine without a K series, which should free up some budget for a better graphics card, so far I really like properbuild's build, I like the reviews on the video card he chose, Mail in rebates are a bit iffy at times so something that dramatically alters the price I would rather avoid.

Thanks though for clarifying and for your help so far!

Comes out at $704 and allows overclocking for the future when you have enough for a cpu-cooler. The sapphire 7870 XT version will cool a lot better than the powercooler one, as it as two fans compared to one. The biggest con about the case is the lack of usb 3.0. It only comes with one fan, but the airflow should be decent.

Properbuild's build is a solid non-overclocking build too, if you decide to not overclock.

Is there any reason why the motherboard is MicroATX? would it be better to get a full sized mobo that is roughly the same price or is there a particular benefit to that mobo or something?

Thanks for all your help everyone!

Hi, the h77m will do the trick, the matx board has everything that you need.
Again, just to say that sapphire 7870 XT is out of stock for a long time, otherwise i'd listed that one, some people don't bother in checking the parts if it's at stock or at that price.
That ram(patriot) is out of stock too, only delivered in 1 month-2 months, i don't think the op wants to wait that long.
I still recommend the i5-3470 plus h77m with a much better case, and cheaper with all parts available.
The z77 pro 4 is not that good for oc, and you need an aftermarket cooler, you need to take the motherboard out again, if you want to add the cooler.

I think I am going to build the system you listed, it looks like it covers everything I am looking for and I like the price point, don't worry too much about the memory being out of stock, that's minor (to me) and can be purchased later if absolutely needed, thanks for all your help!

Looking forward to it.
