So I've upgraded my rig to

AMD FX-8320
Asus M5A97 R2.0

Already had an ATI Sapphire 5850, Corsair 620HX PSU, 4Gbs DDR3 Kingston HyperX Grey

A friend of mine's selling his ATI 5830 for around £40 and I was wondering if it was worth getting for a CrossfireX setup. It's my understanding that my motherboard can run CrossfireX at 16x/4x

Would I see a performance increase at all with that kind of setup that would be worth me spending that kind of money? I'm sort of toying with the idea at the moment not quite sure yet.

You won't see any difference at all. Those two cards don't crossfire together.

You can only crossfire same product models i.e. a 5850 will only crossfire with another 5850, but it doesn't matter who the vendor is or the tweaks that 5850 has been given.

Hello
5850 CAN crossfire with 5830

Ah, OK. I'll need to try that sometime.

I certainly know you can't mix and match different product models with Geforce cards (expecting another chart to prove me wrong).
