So I'm building a new PC and here are its specs(just in case it matters)-

AMD 3.3 GHz FX6100 Processor
Gigabyte GA-78LMT-USB3 Motherboard
DDR3-1600 8 GB RAM
Corsair VS550 550 Watt PSU

Now I'm planning to buy a 7850, and apparently both core and OC version are available on the site I'm buying through and the difference between their price is literally less than $1, with OC version being costlier. Now that amount is negligible but then there's a catch! All my other parts will be delivered in 3 days but the OC version will take a week or more.

I have holidays until next week, after that maybe till next month I'll be busy so won't be able to enjoy my new PC with 7850 much.

So what do you guys suggest? Is it worth waiting for OC? Price is not a problem. Also I heard that OC version has dual-BIOS, is there any advantages of having dual-BIOS?

More about : sapphire 7850 7850

Dual bios is nice so you can flash your good overclock settings instead of having to set with MSI afterburner. I would go with the overclock card for $1 more why not lol.

Will dual BIOS be advantages to me? My cooling will be default so I won't overclock OC version or if I buy core I will just overclock it to 900MHz(i.e. default clock of OC).

Go for the 7870 XT.. if you are set on sticking with the 7800 line.

This is the 7850 I would go for.

7870 is over $80 costlier here(in India) and so its out of my budget. I can choose from 7850 and 7850 OC and both are of almost same prices but OC takes time to deliver...

Also will I be able to use 7850 OC on Corsair VS 450 PSU? As I won't overclock it further and will be able to save a few bucks...

The VS450 shouldn't have any issues running that video card. If you have the VS550, it looks ever better.

There may be a wait, and it the cost is almost the same, go for the 7850 OC. Get more for the money upfront.

You WILL be overclocking that 7850. I guarantee it. If you insist on not overclocking it, it will be a crime, as 7850s will pretty well all overclock right in the AMD driver to 1050MHz. It takes about 30 seconds and you're done.

I have a Corsair VS550 PSU and no extra cooling to my Gigabyte 7850 2GB OC(Yea, Gigabyte was cheaper than Sapphire). Would you recommend me to still OC it?

The specs that are most important to you are the ones listed below.

VS550
+3.3v - 18A
+5v - 14A
+12v - 42A

Power supply has no issues driving that card. Overclock to your hearts content :D
