Sometimes it's not all about how high that you can overclock a cpu but how high will it be stable. When overclocking the main purpose is to get a stable high clock and not the bleeding dge because you want to be able to enjoy that overclock and not have to always be adjusting because your at the edge. The difference between a good solid overclock and a semi stable clock is not going to be worth doing.
If you take your phenom to 4.8ghz and everything is solid and running smooth and the limit for that cpu is 5.0 but is not as stable but usable , that last .2hz is not going to be woth doing as the difference in performance will not be noticeable so you want to stay at the 4.8ghz and enjoy the overclock.

Having said all that each cpu is just a bit different from all the others , no two are exactly the same so there is no set number that all phenoms will reach. You have to do the overclock process to the point where you can't go any more and that will be the number. I think if you can get your cpu to 4.8ghz and it's completely stable then that would be a good number. It will be a long process and you have to be careful with it so as to not cause damage. The other thing to consider is that overclocking shortens the life of the cpu even if stable. Just by adding voltage you shorten the life and that's another thing to think about. Yes you can overclock it but it's really not made to be run at a high clock speed for the duration of it's life.
