can i put different bioschip brand in motherboard?

I have got an ECS l4vxa2 motrherboard, socket 478. I flashed bios but it didn't work. I bought a sivava willem programmer, but it doesn't have in options the exact bios chip (AT49F002NT-70JC).If i buy a new bios chip, not ATMEL but for example SST, will it work with that motherboard or i have to use only the same bios chip that was onboard?I hope you understand what i m trying to say.

Im pretty sure that you need the exact bios chip for replacement

Hard to say
AMD, Amic, Atmel, EON, cFeon, Fujitsu, Macronix, Microchip, SST, ST, Winbond and most other EEPROM / BIOS Chip makers produce products that can be interchanged.

Thank you very much for your replies.I 'll check it out.Having now the sivava willem programmer, i thought i could try programming it myself. I am sure that there is a bios chip with similar parameters with mine in programmer's options,but i don't know which of the parameters should i check so to be positive i won't "burn" the chip but i am totaly beginer....

The programmer might not support ATMEL. Try contacting the manufacturer.
