So I'm currently working on setting up my new build. I've got windows 7 installed and I'm just about to start installing all my drivers. My question is this: Originally we were going to use my 24" HDTV as a monitor, but that is apparently not as easy as it sounds. So I found an old crappy monitor in my basement just to get things up and running and installed. So if I install the graphics card driver now, with this old little monitor hooked up, will I have any problems later if I buy a new monitor and hook it up?

I don't think you will have an issue. 99% of the monitors in the world use the "generic PnP Monitor" Driver. Its from Microsoft dated 6/21/2006. Even though windows sees your proper monitor and calls it by name it still used the generic driver.

Of course if you monitor manufacturer provides a specific driver you can use it but you would have to install it manually.
