Hello Folks,

will Geforce 6200 run on p4p800 mobo?

back story:
I have an ancient p4p800 mobo. Through trial and error I found out that it has a ddr ram (mobo specs are missing on asus's page). I bought a geforce 6200 graphics card for it. Looking at it, the graphic card's box says "512 mb ddr2". I am guessing that the mobo also has to be running ddr2, not ddr?

Solution
don't worry about gpu VRAM and RAM use by mobo. they are not related. but more importantly does that card based on AGP or PCI-E? second what kind of slot did you mobo have. some pentium 4 mobo use PCI-E (x16) and some other use AGP for discrete graphic card.

Hi,

the memory on the GPU has nothing to do with the ram of mobo. It is normal that the GPU memory is higher than the one for the mobo (

As an example, on todays computer, the mobo uses ddr 3 while video card goes up to ddr5.

the geforce 6200 should work since it's AGP

The card is agp 8x
Mobo is agp 8x

I think it's good to go then ... *powers down to try it *
