Hi All,

Apologies is sound very noobish.. i am!

I brought a new PC case for my Outdated pc in the hope of getting to know and leanr more about building my own. I managed to successfully take everything out of the old case and put it back into the new case and all was well.

I have no however tried to install and aftermarket cooler so i could delve into the world of Overclocking.

As far as i could tell everything went well and at no point did i have to force or apply anr pressure at all. Put it all back together plugged everything in and now PC powers up, the CPU fan goes mentally fast and thats it. The power off button does nothing, the reset button does nothing. I have not left it for too long before having to flick the back power switch.

I've googled a lot but can't seem to find a decent answer anywhere. Is this a good indication that my mobo is dead? Sucks that I got a nice new processor coming for it tomorrow :(

Any help appreciated!

Solution
1. Did you make absolutely sure the front panel (switch & leds) connections are correct?
2. Did you use one standoff per screwhole? believe it or not, people have used them according to the screwholes on the case, not sticking to the number of motherboard screwholes as the guide :)
3. Is the BIOS accessible?
4. Do the motherboard as well as front panel leds light-up?
5. Have you double checked the motherboard power connections?
6. Have you tried with another PSU?

Take everything out that is not needed. Install only the following.

Hard drive.
one stick of ram.
Video card if the motherboard does not have one.
CPU and cooler.

Run everything at stock speed. No OC. make sure everything has power.

one to the hdd, your mother board could have one big plug and one with 4 or 6 pins.

If you cannot get to the bios to remove any OC setting. reset the bios.

Did you hook up the power switch and reset button?

Try and boot up.

Ok,

tried all your suggestions and it is now working. It seems that the PSU was causing problems as I hooked it up to a lower all be it much more quality wattage PSU and it works like a beauty!

So now i need to return my friends PSU and get one for myself! Would one of you very helpful people suggest a good (although cheap, as this is a kind of practise build before throwing my money at it) PSU?

The Graphics card i have in it gets it power from the motherboard (7750 i had lying around) so not sure if ill need a higher wattage that the standard 350 tbh?

Thanks again guys you all helped me rule out a multiple of problems, another awsome experience on Tom's forums! Lookign forward to my first proper build now!
