I have an eVGA GTX590 and am getting ready to upgrade. I can go SLI and buy another 590 for about USD 800. Looking at the newest comparison ratings, though, there are many cards that smoke the 590 for much lower prices. In fact, the highest rated card for BF3 - Extreme is a Gigaforce GTX 680 for USD 400, which is running @ 99fps as compared to my 590's 49fps. So, theoretically, I could sell my 590 and buy *two* of the 680's for the same price I'd pay for one additional 590. putting those two 680s in SLI might melt my rig, of course, but that would be a screaming hunk of graphics goodness.

Of course, if that's the case, I'd rather buy the two Gigaforce 680s. Am I thinking this through correctly?

performance isn't much of a difference but it'll be the efficiency of power consumption that's great about the card. Else just wait till the Nvidia 7xx-series or AMD HD 8xxx series. You're card is too new to have a substantial upgrade benefit.

Unless you have to have it now it may be prudent to save the money and wait. There maybe a trimmed down version of the Titan called Titan lite on the way in a couple months and Nvidia's GTX 7xx series is rumored to release near the end of the year. If you can live with your GTX 590 for a little while longer. I'm waiting to upgrade my GTX 580's till Nvidia releases Maxwell.

Given that SLI and CF set up still suffer from smothness issues...I'd just skip SLI/CF at this point. A OC 590 is still a relevant card and it should hold you over till 7xx cards are due.

Given all that, sure sell the 590 and get a 670 or get a 7970.
