I currently have the HP p6521c and need help finding a better PSU so I can get a better GPU. I've been looking around at PSUs but I'm not sure what would go well with this tower. I need a 500w so I can get a better GPU because the HD 5570 is just terrible.

I do 3D work with Cinema4D and lots of Adobe stuff. I also play Guild Wars 2 and Ghost Recon Online with a 1920x1080 monitor. I'm not looking to play on Ultra settings but just better than low. For most games I have to drop the resolution to 1280x720 and it just ruins the experience.

I was looking at either a HD 7850 or GTX 660 depending on how much I spend on the PSU.
Any advice on a good PSU or GPU? Willing to spend around $300

I recommend these:

and

Should be able to come close to maxing those games at your resolution and save you a bit of money in the process.

Edit: Sorry I didn't look at your system specs ahead of time. With the Q8300 and a motherboard that you can't overclock with, I wouldn't suggest going higher than a 7850 to avoid a CPU bottleneck. I suggest this one:

No problem at all.

I have that same processor running at stock speeds in an old rig paired with a 560ti which is just a little slower than the 7850. It seems to be a good pairing. The problem with those prebuilts (like mine was too) is that the motherboards don't allow overclocking to bring that Core 2 Quad up to more modern standards so we're pretty limited as far as what kind of a GPU we can toss in there.

Please be sure to select a "best answer" when you feel like you have enough information.

Good luck!
